DeVotchKa Signs with Anti-

This past July, when Anti- Records announced it would be issuing DeVotchKa's How It Ends in Europe, it almost seemed like a forgone conclusion that the imprint would also end up working with the outfit here in the States. (Uh, let's see... DeVotchKa... Grammy-nominated, universally lauded by fans and critically acclaimed by pundits for its work on the Little Miss Sunshine soundtrack ... yep, seemed like a no brainer.)

Well, here we are just four months later and guess which label just announced a new addition to its roster and, for ten bonus points, guess which act it is. If you answered, "I'll take obvious crap for $300, Alex," well, then you're a smart ass just like me (nice work), and chances are, you already know, ahem, how this ends.

Next to Sub Pop, Merge or Matador, Anti- is one of the most venerable indie labels in the country. Home to icons such as Tom Waits, Bob Mould, Nick Cave and Neko Case, among others, the imprint seems like the perfect home for Nick Urata and company, whose music is among the most gorgeous and enchanting to have ever come out of the Mile High City. Look for the band to make its Anti- debut in March of next year.

On a related note, if you get a sec, stop by Gerber.com and take a gander at the company's most recent ad campaign, in which it licensed "How It Ends" to use as a backdrop for the heart-string-pulling "Anything for Baby" spots. I just stumbled across the ads earlier this week (thanks, Dutch), but evidently, they've been running for a while now.
