Rather than sitting idly, Denver artists take action

Never let it be said that Denver artists sit by idly doing nothing while the world around them falters. Breathe Carolina (pictured above) is set to join this spring's Take Action tour, along with Cute Is What We Aim For, Meg & Dia, Every Avenue and Anarbor. Take Action, in its eighth year, is a tour set up by Hopeless Records (irony at its finest) and Sub City, that's intended to encourage kids to do just that: get involved with charitable causes. Ten percent of the proceeds from ticket sales will be donated to DoSomething.org.
Single File, meanwhile, is slated to hit the road with Alkaline Trio and Anberlin on the innagural Pick Up The Phone Tour. The tour, an alliance between 1-800-SUICIDE, PostSecret and To Write Love On Her Arms, is focused on suicide prevention. Finally, we just received word from DJ Bedz, the official Denver Nuggets DJ, that 100 percent of the profits from his mixtapes sold at Independent Records will now go to benefit Safehouse Denver, an organization dedicated to helping victims of domestic violence. -- Dave Herrera
