This weekend: Autokinoton closes up shop at 3 Kings Tavern, Fight With Food drive at Toad Tavern, Horse, 3 the Hardway and Photo Atlas CD release

Well, sadly, the rumors that have been swirling about for a while now are indeed true. Autokinoton is about to be put to rest. Despite issuing word this past summer that there wouldn't be one, the act's final show is slated for Saturday, February 28, at 3 Kings Tavern, with Kingdom of Magic, Spirit of the Stairs and Space in Time. A moment of silence seems to be in order. Godspeed, gentlemen. You had a great run and will be sorely missed.On the other side of town, meanwhile, the Toad Tavern is hosting a food drive benefiting FightWithFood.org. A ton of acts are slated to appear, including Rus Profit, Paul Garcia, Vagrant Son, New Generation, Lude 33, Jayson Morgan, A.P.O.S.T.L.E., No Bueno, Rob Drabkin, Rubber Planet and more. A lot of bands to fit into one night, right? See that's the thing: This show kicks off at noon and will go until close. There's a five-dollar cover, but if you bring in two cans of food or more, you'll get a couple of bucks off admission.
Finally, there's a slew of CD-release parties this weekend. In case you missed it, Horse, 3 the Hardway, the Photo Atlas and the Omens are all celebrating the release of brand-new platters, which will make for a full dance card of local music!
