As a self-taught studio rat myself, I can say I wish like hell I'd had
someone to teach me the basics instead of having to figure out
everything the hard way. This is a great opportunity for bands looking
to self-record, not to mention anyone who's considering a career in
audio production and wants to get their feet wet before signing up for
a full-fledged program somewhere. Hell, I'd even recommend it to
hard-core music fans who want to get the inside dope on how it's done.
I feel that learning about how music is put together has allowed me to
appreciate and enjoy a far wider variety of musical styles than I would
have dreamed possible before I started recording. The class is $96 for non-members of CFU ($84 for members), plus a $20 materials fee. For more info or to sign up, visit the helmet room blog.
