So after last week's outrage over how the Phish shows at Red Rocks sold out seemingly instantaneously -- thanks, allegedly, to a gaggle of unscrupulous scalpers short-changing countless fans -- we thought we'd check back in to see how much tickets were going for now. Great googily-moogily, we about spit out our Tropicana this morning when we came across this listing on Stub Hub. Can't imagine anybody would actually fork over that much loot any more than we thought we'd see someone trying to sell them for that much. Luckily this particular listing appears to be an anomaly. Seems the going rate otherwise ranges from several hundred bucks to several thousand.

@Bree - That's a pretty respectable position to have, and I agree with you on the whole. I still think if Waits came through and charged that much... I would at least have to think about it. And it would be a pretty long and hard think. And I doubt if I went, that afterwards I would feel like I was being ripped off.
Crawf- If my favorite band in the world can't entertain me for under 30 bucks, they are no longer my favorite band. Everyone should do what Fugazi did. But it's all about a band's motives, and oppositely, what their own fans' motives are. I like music. It's my life. But I also know you shouldn't have to get ripped off by the thing that you love.

I think this may be an interesting topic for discush: What's your absolute top-dollar for a show, and who would you pay that price to see (single-shows only, no festivals... that's a different breed)? I've actually thought about this before... and I think the MOST most I could spend (and this would of course only be if I had the money TO spend) would be $75. The artist: Tom Waits... and I seriously doubt he would ever charge that much.
Phish fans should just save their money and buy some good drugs, download one of the 343432 Phish live bootlegs floating around the internet and go soak in their hot tubs as they stare out at the foothills and enjoy the epic jams. Or just take this ticket debacle as a sign. There are several million bands out there currently making way better music than Phish, and guess what? Their shows are reasonably priced. Especially in Denver, where we have tons of great local acts and national acts passing through on a daily basis. If a ticket to see your favorite band costs an arm and a leg, it's time to find a new favorite band.
F*CK TICKETMASTER & F*CK TICKET SCALPERS! I tried to get tickets thru phish lottery presale,got nothing! Went and waited in line at ticketmaster,got nothing! Only the first 4 people in line got tickets & I wasn't one of them!
