Posted On: Thursday, Apr. 23 2009 @ 12:47PMJust keep the showcase fresh. If a band you choose has played the showcase for the last 3 or more years, then please carefully consider whether they still deserve the acknowledgment.
The showcase should acknowledge a great group, but also should push them to take their music outside the confines of Denver. If that hasn't been done, then let's agree they're good and focus on another less known quality band deserving of one of the limited slots.
Great start guys! I can't wait.

Posted On: Thursday, Apr. 23 2009 @ 1:27PMI am a Hip Hop fan and I would LOVE to see Fresh Breath Committee perform! They put on one of the best sets I ever seen back in December where they threw out snack foods, gum, and breath mints out to the crowd. And I even saw Flawless light a Raider logo on fire in favor of the Broncos.
Amazing set, FRESH BREATH COMMITTEE

AMERICAN RELAY
Well, Jamie,
I agree that Holley 750 should have been on the list. That doesn't mean you need to trash Primasonic - you could have said it to me in person last night. You have never been rude or insulting to me before. What gives - internet anonymity syndrome?
I would love to see:
Ideal Fathers
Lion Sized
Black Lamb
Astra Moveo
A totaly amazing punk rock lineup would be eclectic punk rock. Punk comes in many flavors and vibes. The only think that's not punk is bands bitching about how much more punk they are than the rest. Or being petty whiny bitches.
How about - King Rat, Reno Divorce, Boldtype, The Swanks, The Mansfields, Ideal Fathers, Wanker, Frontside Five, Forth Yeer Freshman, Primasonic, Dirt Poor Kings. That would be a cool lineup
Posted On: Sunday, Apr. 26 2009 @ 9:55AMOne of your local budding singer/songwriters who would be a stupendous addition to your showcase is Jeremy Dion (www.jeremydion.com). His music is catchy, melodic and full of deep meanings. He writes from his life's highs and lows, making it easy to relate to for people of all ages. His CD is being well-received by those who don't even know him but relate to his music and message. He has a folksy, John Denver style. His passion for his music is infectious!
Posted On: Sunday, Apr. 26 2009 @ 1:04PMThe Reminders, Fresh Breath Committee, 4 The Hard Way, & The Pirate Signal would be the greatest Hip Hop show Denver could have!
Posted On: Sunday, Apr. 26 2009 @ 9:59PMGod, what a buncha whiny sissies! This town is full of great bands so, of course, not all of them can make it onto a poll. It's funny how everyone complaining about something or other opts for doing it anonymously, too. Chickenshit posers!
The be-all, end-all of local shows HAS TO include ----- in no particular order
Bela Karoli
Devotchka
The Fluid
Meese
Boss 302
Wanker
The Swanks
The Swayback
King for a Day
KIng Rat
Hemi Cuda
Primasonic

Big Tattoo
Burn Sand Burn
Yerkish
Bleeding Crowns
Isnt this competition Fixed anyways? I'm pretty sure they don't count the votes. Most of last years winners new they had won months prior to the results being posted.

Aloft in the Sundry
The Alan Baird Project

Hearts Like Lions
ManeLine and Fresh Breath Committee for sure!
Posted On: Tuesday, May. 5 2009 @ 4:58PMSure the bands are miscatagorized and obviously plenty of great bands didn't make the cut. that's why there are blank spaces to fill in a band a vote. here's some bands that I think deserve it.
Frontside Five
Forth Yeer
The Outta Controllers
Synthetic Elements
The Dendrites
Get Three Coffins Ready
Potatoe Pirates
Havok
let's tear some sh*t up.
by the way, the motto of the day- "DENVER! FORGET ABOUT THE FRAY" no more fray-ish bands please. what ever happened to badass rock-n-roll?
