It's hard to say what's more impressive, the fact that the Swayback is working with Andy Johns, that it had the opportunity to record with him at the legendary Capitol Studios, or the amazing photos that the unbelievably gifted photographer and recent Los Angeles denizen Laurie Scavo shot. Seriously fantastic. As you can see from the outstanding shot above, our loss is most certain LA's gain. In honor of the Swayback being back in town and playing a show tonight at Bender's Tavern tonight, with Wetlands and the Knew, we got our hands on an exclusive, unreleased Sean Anstrom remix of "Queen's Dance," from Long Gone Lads, and posted a slew of Scavo's shots after the jump.

The Swayback next CO breakout followed by the "more american sounding Kings of Leon" - The Knew. Both are the best in town right now, believe that.

I'd rather see what someone, for example, like Ian Cooke and his band would do in a studio like that as opposed to another band with a bunch of new-disco-beat/hipster/indie-dance songs. For as talented as the string section in Swayback is, I often think the hype comes mostly from the look of the guys in the band, and the fact that the beats are so vapid that anyone can shake their ass to them instead of due to overall musical merit. (A point further illustrated by the fact that 5 of 6 previous comments were posted by women.) It's a fashion band, unfortunately, but they don't have to be. They've got to ditch the drummer and branch-out.
Regardless, it's good for the Swayback, as they are great guys. I am happy for them, and for Denver.

Regarding the above post, I'm a 60 year old male, with no preference toward younger men-just good music. I've appreciated a lot of good music in my time (Pink Floyd, Collective Soul, Dada, James and all the classic bands). My first concert was Jimi at Red Rocks. I say these guys have the talent and the creativity to go where they choose.
