The Pirate Signal, Boon Doc, to compete in Red Bull producer battle

If you're available tonight around 8 p.m., Beta Nightclub (1909 Blake St) will be hosting the Red Bull Big Tune Beat Battle, a hip-hop producer head-to-head competition. The event, which is a premier national hip-hop event, will be hosted by well-renowned rapper/producers Exile and Black Milk.

Twelve Colorado and regional hip-hop producers will be battling head-to-head with their best beats in an effort to win a trip to Atlanta for the final beat battle and a chance to work with a national artist. Last year's competition offered the winner a chance to produce a track for Common, The Game, Nas or Lupe Fiasco.

And if you think a bunch of amateurish producers will be competing, you're wrong. Local stalwarts like the Pirate Signal, Boon Doc, DJ Psycho and a few other familiar names will be putting their beats up. A chubby Fred Durst wannabe who sucks huh? Haha....wow. I would entitle that hating. Expressing your opinion is one thing but attacking me on a personal level when you don't know me is wack man. I've got nothing but love for Yonnas and the rest of L.I.F.E. Crew. There's a lot of stuff that I could go on about that happened last night, but that fact is it's over. I had a chance to chat with all the producers over the last couple nights and they were all great, humble people. Psycho does what he does in his music...and we chatted about it at the orientation. He is probably one of the nicest cats I've met and I wish him nothing but luck in Atlanta. And Boon Doc without a doubt brought the heat! Both of them will represent Denver in there own way and I'm excited to see what happens in the finals!
Lenny-Lenn...what are you in the peacecore?Dude is hating, so is Spytfire...just because yonnas didn't win he's mad. That's not the dopest cat out here! The person who won, was the person who deserved it.
I was also there last night, and for sure it was garbage. There was indeed some whack ass people with a bunch of their "peeps" in the croud, which by no means should be the end all for who moves on. Very poorly organized, and more like a bar event than a legit competetion. Crappy event snubbing real talent like the Pirate Signal in the first round? Anyone who didn't need a sign language interpreter could hear that shit was a joke, winning by "croud noise" Since when did judging talent mean win by bringing the most people you can? Waste of space and time.
Why is it when someone expresses their opinion it's got to be hating? Why can't folks just accept the fact that sometimes people just don't like what you do?
What...Ronnie T must be a producer mad that he didn't make the competition so he couldn't stay too long because he was so filled with jealousy he just had to leave. Quit bitching...that shit last night was dope homie!!! Real talent out here. Boon Doc killed it. I just can't believe WACK-ASS Dj Psycho went as far as he did!!! All-in-all...dope shit.
I was there too and I was like what!!!!!!!!!!!! left right after that as well.
In my humble opinion, this competition was garbage, Had it been judged by a panel, it would have had more legitimacy. But since it was based on crowd noise, it was some serious REDBULL Shit. Vjara won in the first round based on name recognition alone, The Pirate Signal lost to some chubby wanna be Fred Durst guy who sucked, but mind you had a lot of his people there and when I say people I mean grandparents, cousins and everyone who works at Quiznos with him, I left after that. It makes sense from the bar side of it, they want you to bring people in to drink and spend money, but I think even the judges were taken aback by the results from the first round, No matter how much talent you have you aint getting a fair trial, its like having an all Jewish jury and being palestinian. Oh well, money I could have saved I guess, but I won't lose to much sleep over it. Ronnie T.
