Deke Dickerson at Tambien/Rockbar Third Anniversary

​It's not often that you get to see a bunch of motorcycles and tattoos in Cherry Creek, but there's a better than average chance you'll see 'em at Tambien (250 Steele Street) during Rockabilly and Ribs on Sundays. The place has been packing the folks in for with some fine local talent and national acts such as Los Angeles-based Kim Lenz. This Sunday, August 23, Tambien brings in Deke Dickerson, a screamin' demon guitar picker from LA who will be playing cuts from his latest disc, King of the Whole Wide World. Things kick off at 2 p.m. and tickets are $10, which can be purchased through Ticketweb.com. For the last three weeks of Rockablilly and Ribs, Tambien brings in DJs Kursed and Dogboy on August 30, Joe Durand & the Black Snaps on September 6 and Seattle-based Roy Kay Trio on September 13.

Jesse Morreale, owner of Tambien Mezcal and Sketch, will also be kicking off the third anniversary of his other spot, Rockbar (3015 East Colfax Avenue), on Sunday, August 23 with a week-long party. On Sunday, DJs Wigdan Giddy, Andy and Tim Cook host Hang the DJ with guest DJs Tuyet Nguyen, Jason Heller, Ginger Perry and yours truly. On Monday, August 24, it's Manic Monday '80s Nerd Prom with Rockstar Aaron and Peggy Tulane as well as ticket giveaways to the Michael Jackson tribute group Who's Bad. DJs D-Tek, Ph!ll and Dogboy host Mile High Soul Club on Tuesday, August 25. Vibes and Velvet and Swayback will perform acoustic sets on Wednesday, August 26 followed by Rockstar Karaoke with Germain on Thursday. They'll wrap up the week-long fest with Rockstar Aaron's Cassette '80s and DJ Parris' Pimp and Ho Down on Saturday August 29. Every night from August 23 through August 29 it's $3 Jagers, Tres Rios and 3 Olives Vodka, and if you buy a shot of Jager you get a free Rockbar shot glass (one per person per night).
