The Weekend Showdown: Get (Pacific) Prideful

We would hate for you to miss out on all the awesome that happens every weekend in our fair city, so we've decided to run down three of the best shows in one easy-to-swallow post, with video and audio. Tell us -- and the rest of the world -- what we missed in the comments.

1. Pacific Pride

With Green Typewriters
Hi-Dive
Friday, November 27. Doors open at 8pm.
$6

Why you should go: Kick off the holiday season with one last drink to warm weather courtesy of Denver's long-tenured standard bearer in the sloppy pop department. Pacific Pride clearly take close notes when they're spinning the rings off their Pavement records, but there are worse bands to idolize. They don't play a ton of shows and it's a CD release party, so this one should be a treat.

Pacific Pride
Green Typewriters

2. Baby Birds Don't Drink Milk

With Married in Berdichev, 900 Ancestors
Rhinoceropolis
Friday, November 27. Show at 9pm.
Donations

Why you should go: It's big and loud and weird and beautiful. The name's gangly, sure, but the music is wonderful. Baby Birds Don't Drink Milk might be the best band in Lawrence, Kansas, where the competition is stiffer than you might think. Shows at Rhino will always be decidedly lo-fi, and this one should be particularly rambunctious. Ironic apparel and ear plugs recommended.

Listen:
Baby Birds Don't Drink Milk
Married In Berdichev
900 Ancestors

3. CunninLynguists

With Grieves with Budo and Loop Troop Rockers
Larimer Lounge
Saturday, November 28. Show starts at 9pm.
$13

Why you should go: Kentucky's finest hip-hop outfit has brushed massive success throughout its nearly ten year existence. Producer Kno made headlines with his remix of The Black Album and the band has toured alongside heavyweights ranging from Kanye West to The Strokes. They have yet to quite hit the next level, however, so you can see the current manifestation of the group in the intimate confines of the Lounge. If quick-witted southern rap is your thing, this is your show.

Listen:
CunninLynguists
Grieves with Budo
Loop Troop Rockers
