Coming this spring: The first annual Combo Music Expo

The Colorado Music Association has evidently come out of its COMA -- uh, literally and figuratively. From hosting round-tables to providing artists one free barcode a year enabling them to sell their merchandise, the volunteer-driven non-profit has been an invaluable resource for some musicians. We've heard others, meanwhile, grumble that the organization is well intentioned but otherwise ineffectual. The folks who embrace the latter sentiment have reason to reconsider, when COMA -- or COMBO, as it's now known -- hosts its inaugural COMBO Music Expo on Sunday, April 18, 2010 at Red And Jerry's. Running from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the Expo, which is free and open to the unwashed masses, will reportedly feature an assortment of music vendors and panel discussions from various "industry insiders," as organizers put it, on topics ranging from How To Get Your Music Played On the Radio to The Basics of Gigging. And throughout the day, an array of acts who belong to COMBO will be performing on an outdoor stage provided by Car Toys -- which usually means on the back of a flatbed truck. Those are the details as we know them. If you'd like to know more, feel free to reach out to your friendly neighborhood COMBO representative.
