Moving Pictures: "Holding On" by Mr. J Medeiros

Categories: Moving Pictures

If you've slept on Mr.J Medeiros, it's time to wake up and go grab a late pass. After cutting his teeth in the Procussions, the MC has emerged as a gallant talent in his own right.

He first grabbed our attention a few years ago with the touching and superb "Constance," which centers on a haunting sample of Eva Cassidy's take on Sting's "Fields of Gold," from Of Gods and Girls, his solo debut.

The L.A.-by-way-of-Colorado Springs transplant continues to grind -- and impress. Speaking of sleeping (thanks for keeping us honest, Kid Hum): Check out his latest video, released this past summer, evidently, but which we just stumbled across, "Holding On" from Friends Enemies Apples Apples.

The clip, directed by Albert King and featuring the photography of ReZ from the Procussions, is well shot and the premise -- which, conceptually, at least, sort of vaguely recalls Dylan's "Subterranean Homesick Blues" -- is intriguing, even if it does become a bit tedious by the end.
