Do you have a Denver State of Mind? KS-107.5's Larry Ulibarri, Sarah Snead and Hypnautic evidently do.

We're not going to even try and lie: We haven't caught KS-107.5's morning show in a minute, so we have utterly no idea what in the Sam Hill possessed Larry Ulibarri to try his hand at rapping. But jeez-o-pete if we didn't get a jolt and a half out of seeing homie spit some verses about our beloved home town.

Ulibarri's delivery is as stilted as you might imagine from a radiohead, but, believe it or not, we've actually heard worse -- just earlier this week, as a matter of fact. And besides, it's hard to hate on this budget take of Jay's "Empire State of Mind," especially when we completely co-sign the sentiments behind it, and with Hypnautic swooping in to elevate the second half of the song and Sarah Snead doing the Alicia Keys hook justice. Love the Denver love. Now if we can just get the cats at KS to start showing the same kind of love to more local hip-hop, we just might have an anthem of our own someday.

Unfortunately for y'all my shows out sell most major or national artist. And everyone crys about the radio not playing, but my whole crew gets radio play,, 107.1, 95.7 etc. and way more out of state. I'm never one to hate on my state but a lot of time y�all make me laugh, look in the mirror or see where your career goes before you speak on mine. Unlike most, music is my day job so while ya�ll twitter or blog your brains out about how you hate the radio or local music you should do something productive and maybe you�ll get a chance at radio or maybe something bigger. All major labels I talk to dislike Colorado because it�s too violent. So while I�m packing major venues and doing national campaigns y�all keep tryin to fill local saloon bars. I agree with the other posts...I NEVER comment on shit like this but I had to share my words on this one....completely WHACK!!!!!!! I expected so much more from this guy, this is how he is reppin our city???? WTF???? This is NOT New York and Hypnautic is NOT Jay-Z!! I too hope this was a joke...I know so many TALENTED ARTIST here in Colorado... Hypnautic gives local artist a bad name! how the %$#! did this guy get on the radio???...It's just sad that KS1075 would play this garbage and call it an anthem for Colorado. Speechless... I agree 100% with the top two posts. Much love to the homie Hypnautic, but that was plain garbage. No marketing is worth a cheesy knock-off. If you are looking to promote our beautiful state with an athem, at least let it be ORIGINAL...
You know I have to agree with Lenny Lenn on this one... As an artist in and reppin Colorado I really hate to say this but this song is an example of why the industry doesn't take Colorado seriously. An anthem for the city? That really offended me. I know Hypnautic personally and he's a lot better than this trust me. This type of thing comes down to music or business. It may be good for marketing your name but its a real bad look on the whole for music at such a crucial time. For KS 107.5 to say they support local "hip-hop" everybody know is bullshyt! All they wanna do is get money and they could care less about local rap. Larry Ulibary was selfish for using whatever resources he did to have a corny minute in the spotlight. 2010 is going to be a funny year. Lemme get this right....So.... this is the anthem for Colorado local rap sponsored by one of the most popular radio stations in the state? Way to represent yall! This may not be the worst I've ever seen or heard but it's in the top 3. Lets be honest KS wont play local hip-hop but they will play this shit. The song sucks and if they are being serious this is seriuosly WACK Larry Ulibary can't rap (he's not a rapper) Hypnautic I know he's doing his thing but on this song he's off beat and doesn't even sound comfortable. The girl can't sing to me she's off key you guys can't be serious that she did this hook justice......... Now lets get to the video I like the concept but the green screen is bad, there are parts that the audio and vido don't sync and by the looks on the faces of the people in it they didn't even look like they wanted to be there.
