The Chain Gang of 1974 has finally completed work on its new album, White Guts, slated for release on Tuesday, April 27. Impatient like us and don't feel like waiting that long to hear it? No worries. Head on over to the hi-dive next Friday, April 16 (with former Chain Gang drummer Adam Halferty's new band American Tomahawk and Jonathan & BPro), and grab a link to download the album for free in advance of its release. Still not soon enough? Fine (you are just like us, aren't you?), you can also listen to the whole thing right now on Chain Gang's MySpace page.

You sunk my battleship: Kat Barnes and Battleship Agenda have parted ways, which means the act is looking for a new singer, an unenviable task to be sure, sort of like McD trying to replace Cutler. Not to put too fine a point on it, but Barnes was the face of the franchise. Battleship Agenda more or less built its identity and subsequently a substantial head of steam on the strength of her vocals and presence. Needless to say, replacing her isn't going to be easy. Would be frontman/woman can reach out to the band directly. Good luck, guys.

Means to a low end: In other personnel news, Enemy Reign is breaking in a brand new bassist. Phil Turner of Drive-In Massacre has joined the fold to replace outgoing bass ace Cassie Begay, who recently left the group to attend to some personal issues.Turner's going to have his hands full in the next few weeks. Besides stepping in to fill the shoes of Begay, a respected bassist in her own right with stints in Throcult and Deadspeak, Turner's initiation will be a trial by fire (really, is there any other kind?), playing a half dozen shows with the band in Europe at the end of the month.
