Beauty Bar celebrates its grand opening this weekend
It's been in a long time in the works, but the country's tenth Beauty Bar is finally celebrating its grand opening this Saturday, June 19 in the former Snake Pit space at 608 East 13th Avenue. Las Vegas-based DJ Sensé, New York-based DJ Justine D. and the Chicago-based DJ duo Moneypenny will be behind the decks.
Beauty Bar got its start in New York City in 1995, when Paul Devitt turned a four-decade-old salon into a bar, keeping most of its vintage glory intact, right down to the hair dryers. Since then, he's opened Beauty Bars in Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco, Las Vegas and Austin. Like those clubs, the Denver version will feature furniture and equipment salvaged from old salons, including Paris Salon of Beauty, a '60s-era beauty parlor in New Jersey.
While this club will have plenty of vintage kitsch, it will also sport state-of-the-art, German-made KS Audio systems in the front and main rooms, which will both have their own DJ booth and bar. And in keeping with a tradition started at the original Beauty Bar, Denver's will also feature a Martinis and Manicures happy hour from 5 to 10 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, when $10 gets you a signature cocktail and a manicure from the in-house cosmetologist.
