Mighty 4 Denver lived up to its name

Categories: Moving Pictures

Mighty 4 Denver was mighty, mighty indeed. When we stopped by, there were smiles for miles in Skyline park, with people from all walks of life paying homage to the homegrown hip-hop scene. Looking on as a parade of incredibly talented b-boys battled for supremacy, it literally felt like we were witnessing the living continuation of Musa's excellent Soulz of the Rockies documentary, which premiered at the Starz Film Center on Friday night. It was almost as though we were watching Volume Three being filmed in real time. Chronicling the ascent of the culture from the '80s through the early '90s, the film should be considered required viewing for fans of local hip-hop. We've seen it twice. It's that dope. But don't just take our word for it. Do yourself a favor and get your hands on a copy.
