Rolling Stone says 3OH!3's new album is about as pleasant as an STD

It's a good thing 3OH!3 has inspired the rabid support of the fans (Streets of Gold debuted in the top ten of Billboard 200 and "My First Kiss," the inescapable ditty featuring Kesha, looks to be headed toward platinum status), because thus far, the Boulder ballers are encountering growing disdain from critics. Rolling Stone, weighs in on the album in the July issue (Lady Gaga cover), saying, "Streets of Gold is about as pleasant as a case of genital herpes," before adding that its the "soundtrack for beer-pong tournaments."

Spin, although considerably less eviscerating, was no more impressed, awarding the platter a single star. Entertainment Weekly, after noting that the act's "leering, nasal party rap felt merely ugly on their 2008 breakout Want," says they're in a slightly kinder place this time around, giving the disc a C+. Although its rating is only based on six reviews so far, Gold's Metascore is 51 at Metacritic.com, placing it smack dab in the middle of Mediocrityville.
