Yesterday, CNN reported that Wyclef Jean has entered himself into the bid for president in Haiti. This doesn't mark the first time a celebrity has run for office, and while we wish him the best of luck, we have to wonder what qualifications he has other than being a member of the seminal '90s group the Fugees.

Since this isn't an election we can actually participate in, we decided to start tallying up a few musicians we'd like to see run here in the United States. Keep in mind, these are the artists we think should run, not ones that we'd necessarily vote for. See our picks after the jump.

5. Tom WaitsOkay, this might not make any sense to anyone but us -- but seriously, if you've seen Tom Waits play live, you know what we're talking about here. The guy could easily run a country, like seriously -- run it. He'd be walking into multi-national meetings with a megaphone and a parrot on his shoulder, and it would be epic. Hell, we'd appreciate it, at least.

4. Bruce Springsteen The way we see it, it's high time Springsteen stops complaining about the lack of jobs and tries taking on a position in power where he can actually do something about it. His nickname is the "Boss," for cryin' out loud -- we're pretty sure he'd have the authority and showmanship required to be a president.

3. Chuck D You know who was so into the idea of peer-to-peer file sharing that he testified in favor of it before Congress? Chuck D. You know who's written countless songs about politics? Chuck D. You know who's been a political activist for thirty years? You got it: Chuck D. At least he'd finally get a chance to put his money where his mouth is. And while we have no idea what might happen, we're pretty sure it would be awesome.

2. Natalie Maines Natalie Maines is most famous these days for speaking out against Bush while on tour with the Dixie Chicks. Well, y'know what Ms. Maines? We'd like to see what you got -- throw it all on the table and show us your politic'n. We'd venture a guess that you've got something worth saying after all these years.

1. Weird Al Yankovic This might seem a bit weird at first -- but stick with us. When was the last time we had a president that showed a sense of humor? When was the last time we had a president who'd been inexplicably nominated for numerous Grammys? Listen -- the rest of the world barely takes us seriously as it is, we might as well show them what we're really all about: PG humor, parodies and bad jokes.
