WTF? Rolling Stone lists the 25 Best Record Stores in the USA and leaves Colorado out?

• 25 of America's best independent record store?!? BRILLANT. The music market is dying people. CD's are about dead. Concept albums are going to die to make way for singles, like it was in the 1950's. Single song downloads aren't going to pay the bills. It isn't going to sell a magazine about music (though, to be fair, Rolling Stone has already branched out to become and "entertainment" magazine. Rolling stones is trying to build interest in buying music from brick and mortar store fronts and you guys are calling that a BAD THING? ARE YOU CRAZY? In addition, they aren't listing the big chains but giving free press to the independents. and your calling that a BAD THING? Are you upset because your favorite store isn't on the list? Look at the bigger picture.

• The stores I've been to on the list are all legit, but it's not a true survey of what the country has to offer. I would say that Ear X-Tacy and Twist and Shout are fairly similar, except T&S has better selection of actual records. Amoeba is a lazy #1. It may be the biggest store, but it's like shopping in an Amazon warehouse. Goner Records--tiny in comparison--has flawless taste and by doubling as a successful underground label became my favorite record store. Hell, I'm biased too, I lived next door for two years.

• I'm with you, Dave: There are some great stores on this list � Amoeba, Jerry's Records, Newbury Comics, and Princeton Record Exchange are some of my faves from my own travels ��but the absence of Wax Trax and/or Twist & Shout is pretty glaring. I make a point of checking out record stores everywhere I go, and Denver's shops measure up with the best: From what I've seen I'd put both Wax Trax and Twist & Shout in a top 25 in the world list, not just the national list.

• Rolling Stone has lost their mojo many years ago...but 25 best record stores in America? LAME is the word here...how about the really super cool Melodies & Memories in Detroit area? Winning Detroit's Metro Times best of awards for 5 years in a row. This is an example of how boring and calculated this story is. Do a real best of...are you still capable? Think NOT.
