Action Packed Thrill Ride is coming to an end
We've lauded the evolution of Action Packed Thrill Ride. Turns out the band's outgrown itself: Co-frontman Lucas Johannes tells us the record the group is currently working on will be its last. There's still quite a bit of work to do, he reports, and they won't release it until sometime early next year. In the meantime, they'll play a show or two with the new material, but that will almost certainly be it.
The penultimate APTR record.
"I'm so incredibly proud of everything we've done and written over the last four to five years," says Johannes, "and I still love the other guys to death. But we've just been beating our heads against the wall with any new songwriting attempts going back eight months or so.
"It's clear that we all want to write completely different and opposing types of songs," he continues, "and after months of trying to reconcile this, we've decided to take a break -- probably for good."
This is sad news indeed for Denver music fans: Action Packed Thrill Ride has been responsible for some wonderful recordings and even better live shows over the years. The good news is these guys will certainly keep making music, whether in the other bands they're already involved with, or in new projects. No word yet on when or where, exactly, the final hurrah will be, but we'll be sure to keep you posted.
