Otis Taylor to give trance blues workshop
One of the finest blues players to come of out of these parts, Otis Taylor has won blues album of the year awards from Downbeat for four of his albums, and he's jammed with Jimi Hendrix, Muddy Waters, Buddy Guy and many other legendary players. Over the years, he's mastered a sparse and hypnotic style he calls "trance blues." 
This Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m. at the Boulder Outlook Hotel, Taylor will give workshop on trance blues and give musicians, singers or writers a rare chance to learn his take on how music is created. Following the workshop, there's a live jam with Taylor and the students from 6 to 7 p.m. While the jam is free and open to public, the workshop is $40 (seats can be reserved by calling 303-443-3322, extension 0).
Taylor will also be at Dazzle Restaurant and Lounge for a three-night New Year's stint from December 31 to January 2. The New Year's Eve gala ($30 per person/$70 per couple) also features SuperCollider, a three-course meal, party favors and champagne at midnight.
