Wyatt Earp, Crazy Larry, Juan Francisco, Keoki, Skunk Motel Reunion all on this weekend's Dance Card
Thursday night, a special New York City edition of Warm at Gallery 22 features three Denver-to-NYC transplants who are back in town for the holidays: Wyatt Earp, Crazy Larry and Juan Francisco. For years, Wyatt Earp of the Casa Del Soul collective was one of Denver's favorite local DJs, holding down residencies at the Church, Vinyl and 2AM.
DJ Wyatt Earp confidently thinks about how he's going to rock your ass on Thursday.
DJ/producer Crazy Larry gained notoriety in the late 2000s as the demented mind behind the Udder Madness parties that were held both inside and on top of the former Shelter nightclub (now, Bar Standard). Rounding out the bill is house DJ Juan Francisco, who also recently moved to New York from the Mile High City. No cover, 21+.
Keoki headlines Bar Curious, Christmas night at Beauty Bar. One of the most storied acts in mainstream dance music, Keoki (née Superstar DJ) will be joined by veteran San Francisco jock Jerry Bonham. Rising to the top ranks of the international DJ scene in the mid-nineties, Keoki has long had ties to Colorado and relocated to Denver in 2009. Bonham is one of the Bay Area's most established DJs, and, in his heyday, one of the more prominent dance music acts in the United States. $5, 21+.
Keoki: Shirts are for workin'
Beauty Bar also hosts Skunk Motel Reunion, on Monday night, December 27th. One of Denver's longest-running house music weeklies (1996-2004), Skunk Motel drew dancers out Monday nights to the Snake Pit, which closed in 2009 after a 20-year run and reopened in June as Beauty Bar. Former resident DJ Skunk plays alongside his old mates Jeremy and Pete V. No cover, 21+.
