American Idol: Emma Henry's quest ends, while Julie Zorrilla's continues
The headline pretty much says it all. If you didn't happen to catch American Idol last night, you missed JLO's dour assessment of Emma Henry's prospects in the competition ringing true. Henry was sent packing after her group, the Deep V's -- which included James Durbin, that annoying Adam Lambert wannabe with scream-song voice and bad faux hawk -- turned in a completely lackluster version of "Somebody to Love" by Queen.

"The harmonies were almost painful," JLO said. "Really, guys, it was like a bad Glee audition. It was not good." Can't say we disagree. With that, Henry and a few others were dismissed, yet Durbin somehow managed to be passed on to the next round. To add insult to injury, the group that followed completely blew them off the stage.
A few groups later, Julie Zorrilla's crew, Night Owls, took the stage. Once again, before Zorrilla even sung a note, the judges were admiring her outfit -- particularly the clearly oversexed Steven Tyler. (While her dress was nice and all, we suppose, we can't help but wonder if the judges are aware that this is American Idoland not America's Top Model.)
After that momentary digression, Zorilla and company kicked into an a cappella rendition of "Get Ready" by the Temptations that was meh. Zorrilla's performance itself wasn't jaw-dropping by any means, but it was good enough to earn a nod to the next round. Can't wait to see (and hear) this girl open up and showcase her pipes. Have a feeling we've yet to see what she's truly capable of by a long shot.
