Chris Brown is an ass who doesn't deserve another chance

It's been a big week in the inexcusable career resurgence of Chris Brown. Rihanna allowed her restraining order against him to be eased. Apparently someone sitting on some unreleased photos of the damage Brown inflicted on his former girlfriend thought this would be a good opportunity to share them; they surfaced yesterday on mediatakeout.com. Brown then took to Twitter to whine about it. Aww, poor Chris Brown, is someone reminding you of that time you committed felony domestic assault?

Chris Brown has an album coming out in a couple weeks. Plenty of people have apparently forgiven Brown, including his label and everyone who worked with him on this album: Diplo, Tyga, Lil Wayne, Busta Rhymes, Justin Bieber, Ludacris, Benny Benassi and lots of others.

This is a subject that has already seen plenty of coverage. So we don't mean to rehash what you already know. What we don't understand is how this is even a subject worth debating. Chris Brown is a pop singer who has a public platform and there is no way we should even be talking about handing that back to him after he beat his girlfriend. Particularly when his punishment entailed probation, an interview with Larry King, and tearing up during a performance of "Man in the Mirror."

When the new pictures surfaced yesterday, Chris Brown took to Twitter to defend himself. He said, "It's ironic how 'somebody' put this out right around my album time! Wow! I guess that's supposed to be strategic chess move. Unbelievable."

And that, more than anything else, should be conclusive proof to the contrary to anyone who says he's paid his dues, that he's a changed man, that he's genuinely filled with gut-wrenching remorse.

This has nothing to do with your album, you violent idiot. And if that's your first reaction to seeing pictures of the damage you inflicted -- self-defense -- you haven't learned a damn thing.

The tweet has since been taken down, but there's really no going back once you put something on the internet. The new photos are below. If you ask us, he should be given a court order to make them the cover of his new album. Maybe then people would take a second to think a little harder about what, exactly, they are supporting.

Chris Brown can go dance off a cliff. He should lose his career for beating a woman like that. What an immature coward.

Chris Brown has done nothing to gain our forgiveness other than make a couple of albums, give a half ass apology to save his reputation, and "look good". This is NOT enough to be forgiven. You are a complete idiot if you think that he deserves a chance when he hasn't even done anything good for society ever since that incident happened. This would be a different story if he showed sincere remorse and actually did something for women that have been abused by their partners (volunteer, donate money).

Not only did this dude get barely a slap on the wrist, but after reading all the replies to this article it's plain to see that he's got a gang of 15 year old followers believing that this type of behavior is "normal". Look kids, if CB was someone who beat the shit out of you, but suffered little consequence, I guarantee you wouldn't be singing the same tune. "OMFG my boyfriend murdered my parents! But you know, everyone deserves a second chance!" Everyone does NOT deserve a second chance. That is an old cliche that parents say to kids. CB shouldn't get the support he's getting. It sets a bad example as if it's "not that big of a deal" and that is not ok. UFCK CB and UFCK Michael Vick while I'm at it.

I absolutely do not condone domestic violence or violence of any kind. I just don't think that Chris Brown should be persecuted any more than any other person who has a public platform. His "punishment" also included a lot of therapy and anger management counseling, which I believe he took to heart. I think his punishment was fitting for the crime and I think he genuinely regrets his actions. Not because of the media backlash, but because he had to face the fact that he hurt someone he deeply cared about. People make mistakes, some of them bigger than others, but we all deserve the chance to heal and move on. I don't think one action defines a man, and we will see just how effective his punishment was as time moves on. He's done nothing that really warrants this attack from you in the last couple of years and he may never again. Some people do learn from their mistakes. I'm sure you've done things that you're not proud of in your life. Do you think your mistakes should define you for the rest of your life? It's call being human, making mistakes and learning from them. Let the guy prove himself or fall on his face again, but let him move one with his life.

all of your are just dumb. acting like if you never done any bad of your own. to bad your a nobody and it went unnoticed. no one supports what he did 2 years ago. but we support his music.we all have moved on including chris and rihanna, but stupid people like you dont know how to move on. your probably just mad you didnt have enough to pursue your career. and now your behind a computer screen, doing nothing at all . just sitting all day, and just jerking off. i bet if you were in rihanna's and chris shoes. you would want everyone to forget it.

If the comments here are reflective of how society as a whole thinks of this issue then pray for your ALL the women in your life. I love how people are holding onto the notion that it's ok that he pulverised her because 'she started it'. CB has shown zero remorse and did zero time for his crime. How is he rewarded? By having numerous stars line up to work with him and top ten records. If we hold these stars to a higher standard of being role models then epic fail. Cause our young men and women's morals are being tarnished by looking to these people. Young men will see there is no need to be sorry for doing wrong to someone who you supposedly love and even worse young women will think it's acceptable to allow/ forgive violence in a relationship. Worringly it is young women-under 18's who are mainly supporting CB career revival. You can thank woman hating hip hop culture and our ever increasing misogynistic society as a whole for this shiz being acceptable. With a side order of lax parenting thrown in for good measure.

First this girl is very fair skinned and bruise easily.I think the fact that she jumped him while he wad driving, some of this damage was done in defence manner.I do not think any man should hit a woman,I have also witness woman beating on men so bad that they look like her.I think some of this is mutual combat. She has built her career off of this incident.

Its okay for people like Eminem to have #1 singles. #1 albums. Or Charlie Sheen to have a #1 show on tv. You didnt mention them did you? Maybe you should do your homework first before writing trash like this. By the way, if God forgives Chris, fuck everyone else.

WOW you are a piece of shit for posting these pictures. i don't commend CB at all for what he did and I think it was a cowards move. But you are the bigger coward for posting these pics and should probably re-think a career here. You drive people to your article based on shock value alone, i bet you personally could give a shit about this whole thing, but you take a stance for the value of this article. shame on you. if you really care about domestic violence why don't you spend your time reaching out to victims organizations or battered womens shelters, not spraying your filth on the internet to get a reaction on your local newspaper article.

Chris Brown was convicted and sentenced for what he did to Rihanna. Even his probation judge has commended him for his conduct. I suppose that's not good enough for some people. These must be the same people who think their opinions are more important than a judge of a court of law; the same people who say he can't pursue a career or release an album even though his job is a professional musician. You don't have to like him, you don't have to buy his music or support him in any way. But to say that he doesn't deserve a second chance makes no sense. The law says he gets a second chance, and he's gotten it, so what's the point of this piece?

As for his Twitter comments, not something I myself would say, but what's the problem? 2 weeks before his next album comes out, days after his restraining order is downgraded at Rihanna's request, and when generally he's done nothing negative since the incident occurred, photos of a two-year old incident are leaked. For what purpose? He's obviously upset about that happening, and again, while I don't think it was the most eloquent of responses, he's not saying that what he did was right, he's not saying that it never happened. All he's saying is that he finds it strange that the photos were leaked at this particular time. It seems to me that his critics will only be satisfied if he doesn't release an album for the rest of his life and just fades out of the public view, which makes no sense either.

And lastly, do you know who would be completely against a court order requiring Chris Brown to make these photos his album cover? Rihanna, the victim. She has stated on the record that she wants to move on and not discuss or deal with this incident any further.

First of all how dare you post this.... You were not there the night this took place. No Chris should not have hit her, but how far can you be pushed? Man or women violence is not right. I forgave Chris after this happened because he was young. I have done so much in my life that is a lot worst than this. GOD has forgivin me. I am now a changed women. I got a second chance at life. I really do think that Chris should also be given a second chance at life. He is the most talented artist I have ever supported. He is the next MJ. His music comes straight from the heart. As far as Rihanna I really dont know her like that. Its like she's covering up somthing. Cant put my finger on it, but in do time the truth will come out.. CHRIS keep your head up boo. I have been a fan for a very long time. I honestly cant wait til March 22. SHAKE THEM HATERS OFF!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't believe there are actually comments on this in defense of this guy, although it does make sense that many of them mention the bible, god, and the "evil" of a journalist pointing something out. What it has to do with current events in inarguable, the man is releasing a CD that people are going to buy regardless of what he's done. You're saying he deserves another chance when he hasn't suffered at all for his mistakes. Little girls and boys will hear shitty things that people say about the woman who was beaten and maybe they can grow up and have an abusive relationship all their very own. I suppose all women that are ever beaten should just move on just as fast and easily as the person who committed the abuse? It doesn't work that way. The holes in these defenses of Brown are extreme, so I can only assume that these comments are being written by crazy people. "Everyone deserves a second chance, except for the writer that commented on the abuse paradigm existent within our culture! You, sir, can die!" It's like... what the fuck are you people saying? I feel like Kiernan's point might be hitting a little close to home for you, eh. You could always go for a nice walk and tone your bullshit down before you return to your computer, too. Hating a writer for writing is one of the most useless things you could do with your time, especially when they're bringing up a point which is supported by factual evidence. Opening something up for discussion is absolutely not "evil".

Ambs
Ambs

I can't believe I'm reading some of these comments in 2011.

The issue isn't "Chris Brown made a mistake two years ago -- why can't you forgive him? You are a bad person for mentioning this!"

The issue IS: Chris Brown intentionally inflicted pain upon someone he was allegedly in love with ... and apparently is, to this day, more concerned with his record sales than the fact that he caused short-term physical and long-term emotional trauma to his girlfriend.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised. Look how many times Charlie Sheen has beat up women, and he still has the highest-rated show on television!

(Oh, I'm sorry -- it's been, like, three months since he assaulted someone, so I guess I'm a horrible person for bringing him up.)

No matter what good deeds he's done in the past year people are still gone him base on his past. I rather see a man who's learned from this mistake and has matured in the proccess because that's means that there is one less woman beater in the world. Rihanna forgave him and moved so who the hell are y'all to keep this goin? This is not our not fight. Its too much shit goin on in the world to be hell bent on dead blogs and CB hater'S.

this is by far the most ignorant and stupid response I've seen in months.

"chris not a murderer or a rapist asking for redemption"

exactly. he's a woman beater. And as the author points out, he hasn't really asked for much redemption. IN fact, he hasn't really even shown much remorse.

"you posting these pictures of rihanna beaten 2 years ago makes you just as bad as chris for doing it. "

i would love to hear your logic as to why posting pictures of a woman he beat is as bad as beating her himself...

"but saying he doesnt deserve a second chance after 1 fight with his girlfriend is hatred at its worst" "he did not kill her"

you are delusional. it wasn't a fight with his girlfriend. He beat the fuck out of her... but to you that seems okay because he didn't kill or rape her?

"This is truly one of the most ignorant articles I've ever read and you should be thankful that the 1st amendment allowed you to print this."

Violence against women has been institutionalized in our culture, and promoted by the entertainment industry. These comments are proof. In 2011, I am more terrified than ever to be a woman. The war on our bodies, souls, and well-beings is coming at us from all angles.

Just by this headline alone, God probably will punish you for it. How dare you say somebody doesnt deserve a second chance? Correct me if im wrong, but chris did not hurt you personally so you have no right to throw stones at him. chris not a murderer or a rapist asking for redemption and you posting these pictures of rihanna beaten 2 years ago makes you just as bad as chris for doing it. you are beating her all over again. you need to learn to move on from a mistake. Throw stones at Chris if he does it again. He's trying to prove himself better now and people like you keep pulling him back to the spot he doesnt need to be in. You can hate chris all you want and u dont have to listen to his music but saying he doesnt deserve a second chance after 1 fight with his girlfriend is hatred at its worst. he did not kill her and rihanna is on top of the world right now. maybe it's time you opened your eyes and realized people arent perfect. Over half the people in hollywood have done worse things than chris has and they are receiving million dollar movie deals and platinum album sales. This is truly one of the most ignorant articles I've ever read and you should be thankful that the 1st amendment allowed you to print this. But i guarantee you the next time you make a mistake or u watch a movie or listen to a song by someone who has done worse than chris you will be a huge hypocrite.

Everyone deserves the chance at rehabilitation and what they do with that chance is what will define them for the rest of their lives. We don't know at all what the circumstances were in the fight that occurred that night. I don't believe he is anymore proud of his actions than any of us are, but I don't even know that. He's young and with the proper support and guidance he could heal whatever it was that caused him to beat his girlfriend. I don't condone violence, but I know I've made mistakes in my life that opened my eyes to things that I really needed to work on and I have healed those areas of my life. What he did was wrong, absolutely. He hasn't committed any other violent acts since then because if he had, the media would have been all over it. I'm just of the opinion that if a person pays for their mistakes by becoming a better person, they deserve to move forward in life. My hope is that he has learned and can then set an example for others that it is possible to heal from your mistakes. NONE of us is perfect and we all could use some forgiveness and compassion in life.

Wow, who would have thought so many people will invoke God and evil and all this other crazy nonsense in defense of someone who has absolutely no talent and was proven guilty of horrific acts towards someone he was supposed to care for?

@Neezynate, I don't want to speak too much for this writer here, but it seems like he was dealing with an issue he felt strongly about by writing. That's what writers do, and you are welcome to become one yourself and write about your beliefs. It's a lot more effective than posting stupid comments (I know personally, I do both).

To think he was only trying to get traffic to this article with shock value would lead you to believe he owned Westword, otherwise traffic probably won't affect him that much. Do you think he owns the entire media empire here?

I'm sorry, it's besides the point, I just don't like idiots.

im not defending anyone. chris took the fight too far but rihanna started it by hitting him first. u can say my comments are stupid as much as u like but guess what? u r just as bad labeling him. he's not a repeat offender. he had 1 fight and he's not an abuser. if he hit all his girlfriends then he's an abuser. do yourself a favor and dont respond to me if u have something negative to say. i dont condone violence against anybody but rihanna is not an innocent victim in this ok thank u.

Quite on the contrary its the rights of men are institutionalized & and the right of women idolized thats why women get away with any abuse they creatively inflict on men. Chris Brown is not a typical example of an abuser, he was just only a victim to his immaturity like most inexperienced juvenile handling such a very versatile and unbalanced emotion too early in their lives which is no stranger to teenage relationships. The lesson in this whole thing is not only what happened or the consequence but more importantly why it happened in the 1st place so that women and men can learn from this.

haha you must not like looking in the mirror because the idiot apparently is you.

to lecture me on the basics of journalism and the basic practices of writing proves you clearly missed any point i was trying to make. I never said you (the writer) are an asshole for writing about chris brown and rhianna's situation and voicing your opinion on how hes a piece of shit... we all know he is, it's nothing new. i said you are an asshole for posting these pictures and driving people to look based on the shock value alone. he has no right to air her laundry out like that and especially has no right when the pics are so graphic. this isn't normal paparrazi when u comment on britneys vagina an have a good laugh, just think would you want pics of your beaten mother or sister to be aired and open for discussion!? and in case you were wondering, yes journalists do get PAID for hits driven to their sites regardless of ownership over the enterprise. do i need to break down the basic marketing of More traffic equals more revenue based solely on advertisement and ad placements within the blog/articles alone, not to mention subscription bonuses. were you born yesterday. you probably are one of those bitches holding pictures of dead fetuses to get your point across about abortion instead of educating people on the alternative practices that could be taken. shame on you for being the idiot.

I don't blame people for coursing out the author of this article, its really unnecessary. However, I have some questions for the author of this article why do you take a juvenile relationship this serious?

Do you invade other juvenile's relationships as well? seeing that you have a lot of time on your hands or Are you a relationship police.

Did Rihanna give you her consent to publish her pictures?(gaining access to an item that is not consented by the owner is a grand theft, let alone one that can embarrass and hurt her as well is also classed as an abuse)

Did you remember Rihanna's reaction on twitter when "Sandra Rose" wouldn't let it go?

What is an abuse? can that incident really be classed as an "abuse"? why not call it what it actually is -" A juvenile immaturity issue peculiar to teenage relationships". The word "abuse" just takes it beyond reason.

Do you have a personal issue with Chris Brown? you sound like you are in your 30s, can you really keep a grudge against a 19 yr old for 2yrs ? having absolutely no shame? Chris Brown could easily be the last born in your family

If Chris lose his career, will that save your abusive relationship?Get help if you are in an abusive relationship, thats the only solution cos this aint changing nothing)

How do you encourage young "black" men who have made mistakes in their lives AND trying their best possible to make amends?( I guess you have to keep insulting them, blackmailing them, embarrassing them, wishing evil upon their lives)

Do you realize that Chris Brown made this comeback on his own, not because of anyone's forgiveness, cos many usually never recover from such a situation no matter the remorse or forgiveness.

Fans love him as a super talented entertainer & we enjoy and prefer his talents over many, not because we've accepted what he did to Rihanna, but its really none of our business & Rihanna who supposedly is the victim in this case, seems to be doing just fine, in fact doing super great to say the least thats why i do not understand why people are wasting their valuable time digging out her past.

King Makers
King Makers

"abuser" is a continuous tense i.e more than one incident, so how does one fight qualify for that? we must have all heard situations where boy & a girl fight, its really not a shocking news? Haven't you seen where a boy is battered seriously by a girl b4? only that on this very occasion, Chris won. What will you do if someone held your nuts really hard and wouldn't let go?

Angora
Angora

Secondly, if he was indeed 19 like you say he was when it happened, then he wasn't even a juvenile. Dummy.

Angora
Angora

The fact that you consider very visible physical abuse just a normal teenage relationship makes me very, very fearful for women out there.
