Reverend Run was on the Auraria campus today talking all about how he parlayed his position from a life of 'hood proportions, growing up in Hollis, Queens, to one of an almost royal standard. Using his inspirational synthesis, which, if you follow him on Twitter, you can spot from a mile away, Rev. Run was indeed compelling and inspiring.

Sitting down with the chair of the Black Student Union, the hip-hop icon dropped gems of wisdom, peppered with Rakim lyrics and tales of tragedy turned triumph. Obviously fond of the microphone, he put an emphasis on the areas of religion and family. Giving credence to how the two have changed his life for the better, Run is an advocate for the more calm areas of progression in his life. He told tales of vigilance in the RUSH brand that led to secured positions within the company, and essentially told the crowd that the only thing to fear is failure.

Reverend Run is indeed a hip-hop great, and he was very inspirational. He gives these talks all the time, I'd imagine, so for him, some of the best parts were his anecdotes and tales of the come-up. Surprisingly, he talked a lot about Jam Master Jay, and the DJ's passing being a reason that Run DMC isn't interested in touring at this time.

He also big-upped his son Diggy, who appeared on the freshman-class edition of XXLMag just earlier today. A legend in his own right, Rev staked claim among the best and delivered a message of his crowning achievements. Run's House, indeed.
