Tonight: Hip Hop Fest at Cervantes' featuring Fashawn
Though his debut album, Boy Meets World, came out in 2009, rapper Fashawn has flourished more within the realm of the mixtape, a format he's been using since 2006. Among his many mixtape releases came Ode to Illmatic, a track-by-track take on the classic Nas album that showcased Fashawn's uncanny capability to hold it down like an MC from bygone era. ![]()
The young Fresno, California native has also received some due attention via his collaborations -- his strident flow can be found working alongside Talib Kweli, The Grouch and J. Cole. Fashawn headlines this massive show tonight, which also features Ugly Duckling, Curtain$ and Evidence, RA The Rugged Man, Microphone Militants, Kosha Dillz, Prime Element, Proximity and The Hi-Tops.
Tonight's show is all ages, and tickets are $15-18. Doors open at 8 p.m., music starts at 9 p.m. This is a dual venue event, with performances happening at both Cervantes' and it's companion show space, Cervantes' Other Side.
