Tonight: Hip Hop Fest at Cervantes' featuring Fashawn

fashawn-news.jpg
Though his debut album, Boy Meets World, came out in 2009, rapper Fashawn has flourished more within the realm of the mixtape, a format he's been using since 2006. Among his many mixtape releases came Ode to Illmatic, a track-by-track take on the classic Nas album that showcased Fashawn's uncanny capability to hold it down like an MC from bygone era.

The young Fresno, California native has also received some due attention via his collaborations -- his strident flow can be found working alongside Talib Kweli, The Grouch and J. Cole. Fashawn headlines this massive show tonight, which also features Ugly Duckling, Curtain$ and Evidence, RA The Rugged Man, Microphone Militants, Kosha Dillz, Prime Element, Proximity and The Hi-Tops.

Tonight's show is all ages, and tickets are $15-18. Doors open at 8 p.m., music starts at 9 p.m. This is a dual venue event, with performances happening at both Cervantes' and it's companion show space, Cervantes' Other Side.
