Both members of The String Cheese Incident, Jason Hann and Michael Travis started practicing as EOTO when they were both kicked out of the barber shop quartet they were in prior to SCI when both insisted that the only thing missing from the quartet was drum and bass. While both were initially devastated, hopes were renewed when Michael Travis mentioned a man by the name of Nershi he had met while snow shoeing in Colorado who said the only thing he loved more than his guitar and snow shoeing was drum and bass. So Hann and Travis made their way to Colorado, and SCI came to be. Cheese had been playing around Colorado for some years and began gaining some national attention. They had booked a gig at the House of Blues in Los Angeles, CA in February of 2000. This show would prove incredibly beneficial to EOTO’s rebirth. After twisting one too many with a long haired individual with stinky pockets, Snoop Dogg walked off the streets of L.A. and into the House of Blues. Blown away by what he’d just experienced, Snoopy Dizzle for shizzle obtained a recording of the show and gave it to his friend Dr. Dre, world renowned rapper/producer and a former member of NWA. Dre, who was also impressed by the drums and percussion, genoursly asked Jason Hann to collaborate with him on his upcoming album, Chronic 2001. After Hann and Dre worked diligently to produce arguably one of the greatest rap albums of all time, it was time for Jason and the rest of The String Cheese Incident to concentrate on making wonderful music. The band had released a number of their own albums by this time and was playing frequent shows. In 2003, they released Untying the Not and another album in 2005, One Step Closer. Following a series of alien abductions, the members of SCI chose to part ways in 2007 ending with a series of shows at Red Rocks Amphitheater in early August. However, it was in May of 2006 during one of these abductions where Hann and Travis were presented with idea of EOTO and the sound it would later incorporate. With the advice and direction of both aliens and Dr. Dre, the new sound would surely sweep the nation. As a result of this epiphany, Michael Travis and Jason Hann began work as EOTO and the rest is history.

• I dont really have any special facts, but I do got kind of a crazy story. My friends Zac and Amandha (of the Acidophiles) opened up for the EOTO at the Mish.he show before, Michael Travis' van had broken down in Arizona and he needed a ride, so they gave him one. During the drive, he plugged into the car's stereo from the back asking if they wanted to hear "Some new shit." He played an entire set while they drove him to the Mish. The day after the show, he invited them to his house to drink some beer and jam. They still talk to this day. All in all, Michael Travis (and Im sure Jason Han as well) is cool as hell and down to earth. They are obviously in it for the music and the experience and not the money, as Im sure Travis could have easily taken a jet instead of spending time with some local musicians.
