Tonight: Death Angel at the Larimer

Born a year after MTV's inception and surviving the Headbanger's Ball-era, Death Angel (playing tonight at the Larimer Lounge with Four Horsemen and Steel Blades of Vengeance) is an integral part of thrash metal's history. The band members were in their early teens when the 1986 demo, Kill As One, was recorded and produced by Metallica's Kirk Hammett.

Taking a decade off amidst some personal chaos, the band resurfaced in 2001 and released its sixth record last year. Through line-up changes and various offshoot bands, the Bay Area quintet has persevered and maintained an interested fanbase over the last few decades. Tonight's show is 21 and up, and tickets are $18-20. Doors open at 8 p.m., and bands start at 9 p.m.
