What the title should have said is, "Sign up to NOT really win free tickets as our staff will be using them, but give the Westword your email so that they can spam you with their Deal of the Day crap mail. After looking through most of your contest, you have NEVER announced a winner to a contest because Dave Herrera always wins his own contest. LAME

Actually, Dustin Perricone won the tickets, but thanks for pointing out the oversight. We'll start posting the name of the winner in addition to notifying them directly.

Q: Which concert promoter nearly became the first to refuse to promote Led Zeppelin? A: Denver's own Barry Fey. He was asked to fit them into the bill on December 26, 1968 at the Denver Auditorium, but responded that it was full (headlined by Vanilla Fudge), and initially said "No." Lucky for him he was talked not only into adding them to the bill, but into putting up some of his own money to have them play. Whew!

Why did John Bonham Only Play one Bass Drum and not two? (He thought Ginger Baker from Cream was doing all his bass drum work with one bass drum, so he worked on ginger bakers drumming while only playing One Bass. He found out later Ginger Baker played two bass drums and not one).

Jimmy Page, Robert Plant, John Bonham and John Paul Jones first toured as The New Yardbirds, filling touring commitments of the recently defunct Yardbirds. Once those commitments were complete, they were forced to give up the Yardbirds name. Jimmy Page wanted to form a supergroup with Keith Moon, Jeff Beck and John Entwistle, which Keith Moon purportedly said would go over like a lead balloon. They say the "a" was dropped from "lead" to keep Americans from calling the band "Leed Zeppelin."
