Five best mid-sized venues in LoDo and the Ballpark Neighborhood
With the recent opening of the 500-capacity Roxy Theatre, which will be now be primarily a live music venue, LoDo and the Ballpark neighborhood are suddenly brimming with mid-sized venues. With so many fine rooms to choose from, now seemed to be a fitting time to us to offer up a rundown of each place and give you an idea where they rank.

5. Roxy Theatre
While it's still has to prove its worth, the newly revamped 500-person Roxy Theatre has potential. A new thumping sound system was installed, as well as a new lighting rig, and new owner Travis Ragan, who runs it with Ivan Ovchinnikov, says some people are saying the venue has never looked better. The two, who also own Strong Survive Promotionz, are bringing in national and local hip-hop acts, but Ragan says they're open to all genres of music.

While Casselman's took a while to get its legs, the place has been transformed into a solid spot for live music over the last few years with the addition of a new sound system and a killer lighting rig. The 9,000-square-foot venue can accommodate close to a thousand people standing in the back room, as well as another few hundred in the front section. The venue brings a decent of variety of acts, including both local and national rock and hip-hop groups, and is also an ideal spot for corporate events and parties.

The folks at Soda Jerk Presents, who oversees the Marquis Theater, definitely have a handle on what the kids like. One of the most populuar all-ages venues in town, the venue keeps the teenagers coming back with a steady stream of national and local punk, rock and hip-hop acts. While the sound system rocks and the sight lines are pretty good around the place, it can be a bit tough to see the full band if you're in the 21-and-over section. But the caliber of bands more than makes up for it.
