Good Friday: Widespread Panic, Dax Riggs, Pink Hawks and more this weekend

You can't experience a Colorado summer without seeing at least one show at Red Rocks and tonight, Widespread Panic throws down the inaugural performance of a full weekend of jammy goodness. These dudes are so popular here, you would think they are from Colorado, but no. It might just be something about the combination of the Athens band's music and the experience of seeing them at the best outdoor venue in the country that brings us out en masse. The three evenings with Panic are part of the band's year-long celebration of twenty-five years together. (5 p.m. doors, all ages, $47.50.)

Also tonight, Dax Riggs with be playing the first show in a two-night stint at Larimer Lounge with the Outfit and Conjugal Visits supporting (and tomorrow, That Poor Bastard and the Madhouse Act will open.) So, if Widespread Panic isn't your thing, this gothy dirge-singing man will surely bring some needed darkness to your life. (9 p.m. doors, 21 & up, $12 per night or $20 for both.)

Saturday night, Pink Hawks brings its giant tribal party to Cervantes with Champagne Charlie, Atticaattack and 3Two. Led by vocalist and multi-instrumentalist Yuzo Nieto, these technically proficient musicians bring a Fela Kuti-style audience-inclusive experience to every show. (8 p.m. doors, all ages, $10.)

Across town, Garfunkel & Oates will also be invading the Gothic Theatre with a night of skits and songs about dirty dudes, gay marriage and, well, the inappropriate use of go-karts. Named after famous musical sidekicks, Kate Micucci and Riki Lindhome take ukulele strumming and funny face-making to the next level. (8 p.m. doors, all ages, $18.)

Sunday, finish out the weekend Cherry Poppin' Daddies at City Hall with Redline Rockets. As part of the weekly Rockers, Rollers & Riders event, the bands will be playing some neo-swing alongside the rotating cast of burlesque dancers and roller girls, and of course, hot rods and scooters for show. (6 p.m. doors, 18 & up, $18-25.)
