Thursday is the new Friday: SkisM, Gabriel and Dresden, Unsigned Hype and more
It's safe to say that we've got you covered on live music for the weekend, but in case you are looking to start the party early, we've got you there, too. The Westword Music Showcase is days -- pfft...mere hours -- away, and what better way to kick start the festivities with a little dancing. Check out the parties going on tonight, but keep in mind you'll be throwing down all day on Saturday with us. Cheers!

If you already scored the $10 pre-sale tickets, sweet. If not, tickets are $15 at the door and there's speculating this one is going to sell out.
Global Dance Festival is coming up, which means hella pre-parties and tons of great music. Thrash Dance Thursdays is going down at Beauty Bar up on Pearl and 13th with a solid dance bill. This is also your chance to score tickets to Global Dance Festival, as they will be giving some away, as well as selling them, sans ticketing fees/surcharges mLe and Pariah are headlining the night, so get there early to soak up both of these sets.
With the re-opening of the Roxy downtown comes a whole gaggle of new nights of music. The Unsigned Hype Tour takes over tonight with a live freestyle battle and a long list of artists performing. The Church's resident DJ Danny Martinez will be spinning your favorite '80s, '90s and Top 40 hits on the main floor, along with DJ Phil keeping things retro on the vinyl. Ladies are free until 11 p.m. and they get the cheap drinks so cough it up fellas and be a gentleman.
Funky Buddha's Beat the Clock starts at 9 p.m. with some background sounds coming from B Money and DJ IZ. This is that night where the drink prices go up as the clock winds down, which means, well, you do the math.
Vinyl's rooftop opens up for Reggae on the Roof with Chief Rocka and The Versatile. Vinyl's got fire pits, three floors of sounds, great views and cheap brews, which pretty much means there isn't a reason to skip out on this.
