Snake Rattle Rattle Snake partners with Greater Than artist collective for new record, Sineater

In case you haven't heard yet, Snake Rattle Rattle Snake is playing a free in-store at Twist and Shout at 6 p.m. August 16, in celebration of the release of the band's first full-length, Sineater. That performance is timed to coincide with a release show later that week at the Bluebird on August 20. Sineater is being issued with the help of Greater Than, a new label hybrid set up to help artists gain exposure.

This still-forming musical venture between Illegal Pete's head honcho Pete Turner, Suburban Home Records founder Virgil Dickerson and Backbeat's own Andy Thomas aims to be less of a traditional record label and more of a helping hand to artists.

"All three of us love the Denver music scene," says Dickerson, noting that at this point, the idea of a traditional record label is antiquated. "And we wanted wanted to find a way to help build it." With that in mind, this new collective intends to work with the individual needs of each band. In Snake Rattle Rattle Snake's case, the band had already recorded, mixed and mastered Sineater themselves, so Greater Than wanted to offer them help distributing the album, along with some promotional push when the group hits the road.

While the surface details of a website and logo are still being worked out, Greater Than is putting the elbow grease in where it counts -- starting with the music. The collective is busy working on a free compilation of more than twenty local acts including Air Dubai, Git Some and the Knew, that is set for release toward the end of the month, and will be available at all Illegal Pete's locations starting in August.
