Tonight: The Cool Kids at the Fox
Born in the age of MySpace, the Cool Kids (playing tonight at the Fox Theatre with 1984 and DJ Low Key) have long outlasted the ill-fated music site's relevance, as the duo continues to persevere with its smooth style. A big part of this longevity is that the Chicago dudes have always repped a throwback sound, dropping pager and Coolie High references between syrupy hooks and big bass beats.
After several years on the back burner, the duo's long-awaited release, When Fish Ride Bicycles, finally arrived early this month, and speaks to the Kids' likable diversity, with appearances by Travis Barker, Bun B and more. This show is all-ages, and tickets are $20-$25. Doors open at 8:30 p.m., and acts begin at 9.
