Mark Sundermeier of the Trampolines and Author Unknown

​Tomorrow night was supposed to mark the release the CD release party of Author Unknown, the new outfit featuring Mark Sundermeier, at the Toad Tavern. The show has now turned into a benefit for Sundermeier, who was involved in a major car accident a few weeks ago. The former Trampolines singer/guitarist, a long time veteran of the scene, sustained some serious injuries, including several broken ribs, a broken clavicle, a collapsed lung and a lacerated liver, that he's recovering from.

It's unclear what happened exactly, but according to Toad Tavern owner and Rubber Planet guitarist, Brice Hancock, Sundermeier was headed home from the Toad, where he currently oversees booking, after a show featuring Mike Zito on Thursday, September 15, when something happened on Auraria Parkway causing Sundermeier's car to flip and roll three times. The accident was so severe, evidently, that he had to be cut out of the car with the jaws of life.

Good news is, Sundermeier is expected to make a full recovery, and some of his friends are getting together this Friday, September 30 at the Toad to help raise some money to help with his expenses. The original bill featuring No Fair Fights, Matt Jones, Janessa Ho and Eric Coffman, will now also include performances by a number of Sundermeier's friends and be emceed by Nick from Author Unknown. There's a $5 cover, and the show starts at 7 p.m. Sundemeier will obviously still be in the hospital, but there's word that he'll be Skyping in at some point.
