Chromeo, Lupe Fiasco, X, St. Vincent, Odd Future and more on tap this weekend
Rocktober is living up to its name so far, especially this weekend: On Friday, Chromeo electrifies the Ogden, while Frank Turner throws down at the Marquis and Lupe Fiasco raps at the Fillmore. On Saturday, there's some agonizing decisions to make between seeing OFF!, which features Circle Jerks frontman Keith Morris, at the Marquis, X at the Summit, Melt Banana at the Larimer or St. Vincent at the Boulder Theater. On Sunday, meanwhile, Odd Future takes over the Ogden and the Airborne Toxic Event is at the Fillmore.

FRIDAY, OCTOBER 7
After a killer set at this year's Westword Music Showcase, Chromeo brings its electro-funk to the Ogden. The duo usually brings a party that will get your hips shakin', so bring your dancing shoes. Mayer Hawthorne & The County and Sammy Bananas open the 16+ show that starts at 9 p.m. and tickets are $35.
There is a long tradition of ex-punk rockers trading in their power chords and electric guitars for the idyllic green pastures of folk music. Frank Turner of Winchester, England, made that very leap in 2005 after the breakup of his progressive hardcore band Million Dead had reached its zenith, and he hasn't looked back since. The all ages show starts at 7:30 p.m. and tickets are $15.
The Chicago-born MC Lupe Fiasco returns to the Mile High City in support of his latest effort, LASERS (an acronym for "Love Always Shines Everytime: Remember to Smile"), with Tinie Tempah and Sara Green opening the show. Show starts at 8 p.m. at tickets are $34.50 and $40 day of show.
