R.I.P. "Michigan Mike" Torpie of NedFest

• I knew Mike back in Michigan.  As kids, we went to the same summer camp.  He was always such a character!  So glad to have reconnected with him in the past few years.  I am so deeply grieved that his life ended the way it did.  Many blessings to his family and all of those/us that loved him.

• RIP Mike! Glad I knew you, even more glad that I had the opportunity to work at NedFest with you this past summer. You put on a hecka good show. You should be in the Guinness Book of Records for single handedly garnering the 65 signatures needed to put the decriminalization of marijuana on the ballot in Nederland. Your work was rewarded with a 54% win. That's a landslide in politics.   So what's it like dude? Did they give you a harp and wings? What brew do the angels drink? • Michigan Mike was a cool guy who helped the careers of more local bands than all the people at Livenation and AEG Rocky Mountain combined...and his festival was super cool, well planned, and better curated than all of the rest of the music festivals that have come and gone through the years (Monolith, Mile High, Tatanka, Lollapalooza, Lillith Fair, etc). I never understood why Livenation and AEG didn't hire Michigan Mike years ago, he understood what music fans wanted as well as what bands wanted. Damnit Mike, you've left a lot of friends who cared about you behind. Rest easy, we're gonna miss you. 

• Gotta keep your friends close and your depressed friends even closer. R.I.P. ya still owe me a beer asshole!

• Michigan Mike is a character that will be missed in the Colorado Music Scene...RIP
