Talk nerdy to me at Bop Skizzum's first annual Nerd Prom

​Hey, all you super-squares, time to dig out that sparkly prom dress with the puffy sleeves and the ill-fitting leisure suit. Run to that dusty box in the closet to bust out the retainer, the horn-rimmed glasses and the D&D magic decoder ring. No room for hipsters here: This party has a strict geek guest list.

Bop Skizzum's First Annual Nerd Prom is kicking off the romance season right, with a night of dapper dweebs and debutante dorks twitching the night away at the Gothic Theatre to the sounds of Bop Skizzum, of course, along with Broke Tongues, Della and Wheelchair Sports Camp.

And you can get in on the geek glamour early by submitting your own awkward-family-photo-style Nerd Prom pictures to Bop Skizzum's Facebook fan page. The three guys and three girls who post the most nerdtastic photos and receive the most "likes" will be admitted to the show for free -- and be in the running for the King & Queen of Nerd Prom, voted by the audience. Those who buy tickets to the Nerd Prom will also be put in a raffle to win a Valentine's date with Bop Skizzum, with dinner courtesy of Illegal Pete's and bowling at Moe's Original Barbecue.

"We've been looking to make our shows more than just a show," explains Bop Skizzum main man Andy Guerrero. "We want it to be an event. We want it to be a kind of anti-Valentine's Day. I'm a geek -- we're all geeks -- and if you don't want to go out for Valentine's Day, you can come to Nerd Prom."

Tickets for the Nerd Prom, which is the wintery followup to the band's King & Queen of Summer shindig last year, are $10 in advance and $13 at the door. Doors open at 7, and the loser-fabulous music begins at 8 p.m.
