Mercury Sauce showcasing top local R&B talent this Friday
Three of the city's hottest R&B singers, Amanda Hawkins, Devan Blake Jones and American Idol alumnus Julie Zorilla, are performing together on one bill this Friday night at the Walnut Room. The trio of Mercury Sauce artists will be showing off their singing and songwriting chops with one of the acts introducing new material.

Hawkins, who also goes by the stage name Jane Doed, is the front woman of Della, and this show may end up being the last chance to see her perform in this intimate of a setting. Jones, meanwhile, on break from filming the current season of American Idol, will be showcasing his soulful side pairing his warm vocals with several covers. Zorilla, who, herself, as you might remember, competed on Idol last season, will be playing songs from her forthcoming Mercury Sauce release.
"We are just so deeply excited to get a chance to see all of these artists on the stage together for one night," says bassist Casey Sidwell, the show's music director. "All of these artists are poised for gigantic things in 2012, and this is a special show personally, because we've all been working with them for a really long time."
This all-star ensemble will be backed by Sidwell and some of Denver's finest players, including drummer Tohbias Juniel, Ronneka Cox and Jon Wirtz on key and Imkong Yaden and Mercury Sauce chief, Nathan Reid, on guitars. Tickets ($10-$12) for the show are on sale now at the Walnut Room's website. Doors are at 6 p.m. and show is at 7 p.m.
