A year on and Adele proves she's the Billboard Charts' reigning champ.
Yet another big week for Adele, who continues to dominate the charts. With a ninth consecutive week at number one on the Billboard 200 chart, the 22nd week overall, Adele's second album, 21 recently supplanted The Bodyguard soundtrack in the record books and now the album has is closing in on Prince's monster-hit Purple Rain, which spent 24 weeks at number one in the mid '80s.

In the U.K., 21 spends a 21st non-consecutive week at number one, becoming the eighth biggest-selling album there of all time, inching out Michael Jackson's Bad by under 100,000 copies, notching 4.02 million total.

The nearest competition to Adele's 21 is Pink Floyd's The Dark Side Of The Moon at number seven on that list, has sold only 96,000 more copies, and the number-one selling album of all time in the U.K., Queen's Greatest Hits, has sold 1.84 million more. With this momentum, Adele inching nearer and nearer to Freddie Mercury and company by the week.

The big post-Grammy push certainly didn't hurt sales of 21 in the past two weeks either, helping Adele's big hit move 1.83 million units in 2012 so far and 7.65 million since its release just over a year ago, on February 22, 2011. Adele's first album, 19, also saw strong sales these past two weeks, with the set moving 39,000 this week and holding in the top ten at number seven (dropping three).

Whitney Houston's greatest hits set, Whitney: The Greatest Hits, remains at number two for a second week, and fun., with its single "We Are Young" gaining popularity from the new Chevy TV spot, sees a top three debut with Some Nights, the band's second album.

The top ten also sees strong debuts from Tyga, with Careless World: Rise Of The Last King, and Chiddy Bang, with Breakfast, bowing at number four and eight, respectively.

On the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart, fun.'s "We Are Young" climbs to the top, with Kelly Clarkson's former chart-topper, "Stronger (What Doesn't Kill You)" steady behind at number two. Thanks to a cover from the Glee cast last week, the Wanted's "Glad You Came" shoots into the top ten, climbing sixteen spots to number three. Katy Perry's "Part Of Me" falls from number one to number four, but expect it to rebound upon Perry's release of the music video for the song, which we can anticipate in the next few weeks.

Lower on the Hot 100, Nicki Minaj's "Starships" holds at number seven for a second week, and LMFAO's dick-wiggle fest "Sexy And I Know It" moves up one spot to number nine, pushing Chris Brown's "Turn Up The Music" down to number ten.

The chart is referred to UK and Thriller is #5 best selling album of all time and also Bad is among the best selling albums of all time, so in what she beats MJ...... Furthermore MJ has sold 1 billion records worldwide, a result that this Adele or anyone else can never reach and by the way we all know she won't be here in a few years to come. As always media try to put down MJ while he is always on top and always will be.

Actually she is NOT better than Michael Jackson, she is NOT Michael Jackson and she NEVER will be. Actually we all know she won't be here (like many others) in a few years to come for a fact.

*sigh* this is very VERY misleading. as always the media will say anything to belittle mj. even if they have to twist things. as far as i know mj has sold more records than adele in the UK. and here 21 album is the 8th all time in UK but there is still MJ's Thriller which is 5th all time, i think it is even more incredibly that jackson has 2 top 10 albums in the UK and he is not even british. lets see adele break a SIGNIFICANT MJ record here in the US.

As always, misleading heading.
