Categories: Concerts

With all that's going down this weekend between Communikey -- which is already well underway, and bringing a legion of talent to Boulder over the next three days -- Unified Field, the Sonic Bloom pre-party, Brown Suga Youth Fest, and the various other parties around town being hosted by DJ Mu$a, strong>GirlGrabbers, DJ Low Key and Lazy Eyez and DJ Shanon von Kelly, among others, there is no shortage of places to get down this weekend. Seriously. There's an unreal amount of goodness this weekend. Page down to get the jump on your best dance and party bets.

Btsunami, Khalib and Mike L. are taking the early shift at Communikey this afternoon and evening at BMoCA; later, QueerTopia at the Fox Theatre is bringing in Narky Stares, Piper Rose, JD Samson & Men and DJ Sprinkles, followed by After Sprinkles with Team Everything (Erin E, Toast, Richochet, Bloodroot and Feathericci) at Apex Movement. (Prices and times vary; visit Communikey.us for information.)

Milk Bar is continuing its run as the Underground Friday Nights series picks up. DJ Mu$a will play all the hip-hop classics throughout the evening, keeping the crowd moving all while preserving the culture of hip-hop. No cover, 21+up.

The long awaited GirlGrabbers album, Chicks Only, will finally be unveiled on Friday night at Beauty Bar. Ladies are being offered $10 happy hour manicure and martini specials from 8-10 p.m., while the art work of Nicholas Hughes will be on display, and DJ Jeff Cox will knock down a late night set. Be ready to party, ladies. 21+up.

Sonic Bloom isn't until the end of June, but don't let that stop you from getting excited tonight (and tomorrow night) at the Unified Field at Cervantes' Masterpiece Ballroom. Artists Alex and Allyson Grey join Griz and David Starfire as the main acts tonight; Brothers Past, Janover, Russ Liquid, the Floozies, Ill Mannered, Coult45 and UmConscious will support, and there's plenty of eye candy to go around. (all ages, 7:30 p.m., $20-$35)

DJ Shannon von Kelly, host of Neon Knights, is throwing a party tonight at the Meadowlark with DJs Tyler Snow and Matthew Brown to celebrating the unveiling of the Neon Knight's mural on Larimer at 9:30 p.m. (cover is $5). Audio Visual Violence Club (Jeromie Dorrance and Mario Zoots), who painted the mural, will be handling the visuals this evening.

Metal/Pirate Camp is raising funds for its Apogaea blowout at the Fusion Factory tonight by hosting a Sparkle Pony Rodeo. MITH, Mentat, Doc Livingston, Gestappo Pussy Ranch, Canine, Ether and Asymptotic will provide the tunes; there will also be glitter wrestling, a sparkle pony corral, a sparkle pony pageant with several strict requirements and more. (21+, 9 p.m., $10 in costume, $15 without a costume)

At Beta, Photek and Terravita will provide the bass for what always happens on Friday night at Beta: Bassic Fridays. In the Beatport Lounge, Colorado House Community presents Nutmeg vs. Tony Rodelli with Diizel, so no matter where you turn within the walls of Beta, you're bound to find something your feet like. (18+, 9 p.m., $5-$15)

Pete Bones
Pete Bones is headlining the Electric Pony monthly this go-round at the Appaloosa Grill tonight; the underground legend and scene veteran will rock the dance-floor of the Appaloosa. (9:30 p.m., no cover, donations at the door)

The Sp*rk techno and psytrance monthly at 2200 returns for round three tonight with Caro, Asymptotic, Kollison Method, Airyck Sterrett and Labyrinth playing techno and assorted blends of progressive weirdness. (21+, 9 p.m)

S.P.E.C.T.R.E. and Ben Samples take to the Jet Hotel decks on Friday night with DJ Mada and Chu for what's bound to be a night full of beautiful people, and possibly even some dirty dancing. (21+, 9 p.m.)

If you feel like heading north to support some hometown heroes, Dragon and Jontron will be headlining the TI Lounge in Fort Collins tonight for their first trip to our upstairs neighbor; DJ Kemistry, John Phelps, Juggernaut, Blendrix, Apostle Paul, Nicky G, Arisduhkats and Avry will support. (21+, 7 p.m., $10)
