Denver's ten best karaoke bars

Thursday nights are filled with Karaoke hosted by DJ Tony Risch at Star Bar in Denver.

6. Star Bar (2137 Larimer Street)

One of Denver's oldest bars, the Star Bar was one of downtown's classic dives for decades, but when new owners took over the place two years ago, the bar got a much-needed overhaul. With that facelift came a new crowd as well as weekly entertainment, including live music on the weekends and karaoke on Tuesdays and Thursdays, which usually draws lively and sizeable crowds. While the now-defunct Mori Sushi Bar a few blocks away was long karaoke central in downtown, Star Bar is the now the prime spot for karaoke in LoDo.

Decided because of this article to visit number one...and was highly disappointed. Don't get me wrong the bar is great, bartenders and staff are awesome, patrons are friendly-ish...though most can't carry a tune in a bucket (the worst of which I am listening to right now murdering "i told you so") ...the way things are run suck. They started late, had absolutely no announcements, no instructions on how things are run...the kj was rude and very unfriendly. We were here for 3 hours before they started the new rotation...on a good note, it is a big bar, the dance floor is nice, and the stage is cool...but I will not be coming back here. Park centere lounge and dubbs pub are my 2 favorites on the list...I want to know who the hell decided this place was the best so I can slap them.

That's too bad that Maloney's Tavern didn't make the list! With $4 You-Call-Its (including TOP SHELF!) that certainly makes for a fun time during their weekly Wednesday Karaoke nights!Maloney's Tavern1432 Market St.

Forgotten was Toby Keith's I Love This Bar & Grill - they do LIVE BAND karaoke on Tuesday nights. You get to get up on stage and have an actual band play behind you! It's so much fun!

El Charrito also has a ticker that runs across the bottom of their screens with "The List" so you know exactly when you're up. Excellent feature.

And thank you for the reply, Nick. The 'give each bar its own page' part is reasonable. But the image loading excuse is really only valid if I'm trying to load web pages with a dial-up modem in a cabin behind Blackhawk. I think I'll stick with my original assessment. It's not like you're the only site that does it, after all.
