Horse headlines benefit for Matthew Lusk this weekend
Last March, Matthew Lusk was killed in a car accident, and the funeral was paid for by a loan from his grandmother's health-care savings until a victim's compensation fund would repay the costs. But the insurance company has denied the claim for expenses associated with the death of Lusk, who was the step-son of Jim Strickland, the original drummer for the band Horse. So to help repay the funeral expenses, Horse, which is fronted by KBPI's Uncle Nasty, Plot 38, World Famous Johnsons, Sideffect and Swami are teaming up for a benefit show at Herman's Hideaway from noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday, July 1. 
"For us, it's a family thing - the Denver music family is pretty tight," says Liz Lincoln, one of the event's organizers and who's also married to Horse's bassist Doug Tackett. "When people need something, we all pull together. We decided to get some of the bands together."
There will also be a silent auction and a bake sale. While there's no cover for the show, Lincoln asks that people donate whatever they are able to give while they're at the fundraiser.
