The Taste of Colorado lacks taste in music

The Taste of Colorado just announced the latest addition to its lineup, the Pointer Sisters, who will join other outfits already slated to perform, including the Spin Doctors, Burton Cummings of the Guess Who, Lou Gramm and Head East. While the groups on this bill might have been mildly intriguing three decades or more ago (or never, in the case of the Spin Doctors), today they're barely worth the price of admission. And the Taste is free.

The Taste of Colorado's Pronounced Lack of Taste, Exhibit A:

Let's be real here: Nobody's expecting to see a groundbreaking act perform at the Taste. It's all about the food -- we know this, and that's really why we go. Still, wouldn't it be nice to see an act from at least the past decade? Better yet, what about some acts from Colorado? Nothing against any of the groups on this year's bill, but isn't it high time that the Taste start, well, refining its tastes?

Hell, I'm no talent buyer, but off the top of my head, I can think of at least several dozen acts from this era that would be infinitely more compelling -- and you don't even have to leave the city limits to find them. Why not have the Taste of Colorado actually give you a true taste of Colorado, music included, instead of a generic, state-fair-worthy roster of performers who have long since exceeded their expiration date and relevance?

I"m 57 and I wouldn't go see those bands LOL ... CMON TASTE!  You do a better job at the Taste of Fort Collins than you're doing here.

How bout Foreigner with no original members or Asia with non? Overpriced and that carnival. Tatted 23 year old chicanas pushing their 3 kids around. Bring in some chicano gangster rap and some beer belly biker music like Skynyrd with 1 guy left.

Want a better food sampling experience with cool local bands? Westword Dish is such a better way to spend your money and try some of Denver's finest food.

The price of food at these is crap. Turkey legs rule though! The Spin Doctors are a really solid band live,(i was surprised as well) one of the only jam type bands that isnt so damn jammy, sorta how Big Head Todd & The Monsters are.And the most irrelevant thing around is psuedo writers severely dismissing someones output and by default their humanity for crossing some arbitrary deadline.Budgie or the U.K. Subs may not be "relevant" but they are way more awesome than most of the jingy-jang cha-ching,warbling with "ironic" 80's synth tuneless shitrock that so many of you beardo Horshacks would claim is. Oh...also The Guess Who are one of the most underated rock n roll bands of all time. Burton Cummings co-wrote "American Woman" & "No Sugar Tonight". You write a stupid blog. You are irrelevant. "relevant" is just hipster newspeak for fucking "popular" anygoddamnway.

Yeah, the food sucks, too. There is no reason to go to Taste of Colorado unless you are a huge fan of mullets and muffin tops.

Seriously. Its embarrassing that is called taste of Colorado. Turkey legs and roasted corn is carney bullshit. Its time to revamp this sideshow.

You'd figure since they're charging out the fucking ass 9$ for a nibble bullshit prices that they MIGHT be able to find a band to go down a little easier than their overpriced food! Taste of Colorado = total fucking ripoff, no parking, a con game carnival, wandering around in the hot sun with drunken assholes eating food that costs $27 for a full serving. Have fun, jagoffs.
