Aw, yeah, weekend's here! There's a heady mix of local and international talent brewing on the dance scene this weekend, including Peter Black's official retirement party and tunes by Porter Robinson, Danny Daze, Sascha Dive and Paul Oakenfold. On the party front, the Signtologist is back from his mini-tour and throwing an impromptu art opening, Milk Bar is catering to the ladies and much more. Page down to get the full rundown on the weekend's best nightlife bets.
Help send local favorite Peter Black off to his retirement in style; he's been a fixture at such local hangouts as the Meadowlark, Bar Standard, Walnut Room and many more, spinning everything from drum-and-bas to acid jazz to glitch hop to goth. Max Klaw, DJ Love and many more (including Pedro Noir himself) will take the decks at what's bound to be a killer show at the Meadowlark. (9 p.m., 21+)
Porter Robinson kicks off a two-night Colorado run tonight at the Boulder Theater with M Machine and Mat Zo (8:30 p.m., $26.50, all ages), followed by another show tomorrow night at the Ogden Theatre (9 p.m., $26.50/$30, 16+).
The Signtologist will present an impromptu art opening at Vertigo Art Space (960 Santa Fe) along with Terrance Duncan of TD Photography, showcasing his unique style of hip-hop street art. Sign has been on a mini tour of Nevada, New York, and the Bay, highlighting his skills. Check this one out. (Free; 9pm;)
NORAD hosts Burnski all the way from the UK, with Bones and Swank helping him hold down the decks. It'll get deep -- and loud. (9 p.m., 21+, free before 11 p.m.)
Bar Standard is bringing the love to the city tonight -- Chuck Love, that is, spinning some of the danciest house you've ever wanted to hear. (9 p.m., 21+)
It's First Friday downtown, and you know what that means: DJs and specialty wine at the Infinite Monkey Theorem. Oh, yeah, and art, too. Ejay and Jon Nedza will be spinning the classic disco/funk plus soul and house, and donations will be gathered for Colorado firefighters. (5 p.m., 21+)
Looking for some bass tonight? Beta, as usual, has your fix; you'll see Killabits with Coult 45 and Mystical Influence. And if you need more bass than that, well, you've probably got some kind of problem. (9 p.m., 18+, $10)
Milk Bar is at it once again for a Friday ladies night party. This week will be hosted by VH-1's Single Ladies star, Josh Sole, and will feature drink specials like $5 Ciroc and $3 Coronas. Fellas must be 25+up, and there is a strict dress code. (Free, 9 p.m., 21+up for ladies, 25+up for men)
Irie Fridays has been heating up the patio at Kenga's Lounge for the past few weeks. Check for island and Caribbean sounds along with the best Red Stripe and rum drink specials. (Free, 9 p.m., 21+up)
The Roots Dance is bringing you its Ice Cream Love party at the Gypsy House featuring the sounds of DJ Uplifter and friends. Little Man Ice cream will sponsor the tastes to keep you cool while the dance floor heats up.
