On Monday, it will be a month since the Aurora theater shooting shook our community to its very core. That's been adequate time, evidently, for some folks to feel the need to weigh in on the tragedy -- or in Dave Mustaine's case, to politicize it. On stage at a show in Singapore this week, the Megadeth frontman pinned the blame for the Aurora shooting, in which twelve people lost their lives and 58 more were critically injured, as well as the recent Sikh temple ambush in Wisconsin, squarely on President Obama.
"Back in my country," he told the crowd, "my president, he's trying to pass a gun ban. So he's staging all of these murders, like the 'Fast and Furious' thing down at the border, in Aurora, Colorado, all the people that were killed there, and now the beautiful people at the Sikh temple." After making this assertion -- which is similar to the conspiracy theory others such as talk show host Alex Jones have floated -- Mustaine then went on to point out how America is turning into Nazi America.
Carli Richards, who survived the harrowing attack in Aurora, responded yesterday, telling TMZ.com, "It's obviously kind of absurd and people who make up conspiracies just want attention," she said in an exclusive interview. "Everybody is emotional at this time and needs to blame somebody I guess. I don't think they realize the consequences of not being responsible for your own actions and James Holmes needs to be held accountable for his, to whatever way the justice system deems fit."
