Ten essential gangsta-rap albums

Murder Was the Case by Snoop Dogg on Grooveshark

4. Snoop Doggy Dogg - Doggystyle
In Snoop Dogg's music, the priority has never been wordplay or verbal gymnastics, as it is with many other rappers; instead, it's been in conveying a certain style. Every part of Doggystyle oozes gangter: Dr. Dre's heavy production, Snoop's I-don't-give-a-fuck delivery, and especially his day-in-the-life lyrics depicting all things gangster, from partying to pimping to killing, and running the gamut of emotions from the highs of "Gin n' Juice" and "What's My Name?" to the extreme lows of "Murder Was the Case," all told from a young G's perspective.

I'd say that Boogie Down Productions wasn't a gangsta rap album. I'd say that you are missing DJ Quik "Quik is the Name". And before you put Scarface on there, you should have put Geto Boys. other honorable mentions include Notorious BIG, Too $hort, Warren G, and you have to mention the D.O.C. as he wrote a lot of the best gangsta rap songs out there.
