Terry Mullan
TERRY MULLAN @ NORAD | SAT, 2/2/13
There's only one person on the planet who's mastered the special fusion of jacking acid house, funky bass lines and precise mixing techniques that made Terry Mullan famous -- and that's Mullan himself. A product of the Chicago house explosion that rocked the Midwest in the '80s and '90s, Mullan melded turntablism with house music in ways that no one had ever heard before. As the world of electronic music has expanded and morphed, so have Mullan's abilities to spin sets for masses of dancers in prestigious clubs all over the planet. In addition, he's managed to stay relevant while remaining faithful to the underlying soulful, hip-bumping element that classifies the Chicago house sound. The man's technique and selection are world-renowned, and he'll no doubt showcase both at NORAD on Saturday with LL Bishop, Haroun Omar and Dagan. In the loft, catch a Yuma Records release party with Bruni & Danielle, Amber Cox and Oona Dahl. (9 p.m., 21+, $5 and up)
