After nearly a decade of playing bass in Nashville Pussy, Karen Cuda (one of the six hottest chicks in metal, according to Revolver) officially tendered her resignation from the band. "It's been an extraordinarily difficult decision for me to make," says Cuda, who made the announcement yesterday. "But I feel it's time for me to move on and explore the next chapter of rock and roll and my life."

The past year has been challenging for Cuda, to say the least. Last fall, as she was taking some time off due to several herniated discs in her neck, she was diagnosed with cervical myelopathy, a degenerative condition in which the discs in her neck were pressing down on her nerves. After undergoing physical therapy, she was finally able to start playing again just before Thanksgiving. Since then, she's been focusing on mentoring young, aspiring musicians and otherwise keeping a low profile.

"I am sincerely and wholeheartedly grateful for the experiences, the stages, the amazing albums we've made, the globetrotting, the laughter, the tears, the parties and, most of all, the fans, that I've had the pleasure of sharing with Nashville Pussy," she says of her time with the group. "Thanks to all for the amazing opportunity! I will forever cherish it. Rest assured I will continue rocking, so keep your ears peeled!"

Cuda says, while there's no set time frame right now, she'll re-emerge at some point with a new band also featuring former VAUX guitarist Chris Sorensen. There's not a lot to talk about right now, she says, as the project's still in the beginning stages and developing, but the two have been jamming together off and on for the past few years, and the new music sounds pretty promising.
