Here's what we're all listening to right now. What's rocking your world this week?

Categories: Commentary

As people who think about, talk about, write about, listen to and make music, it's not surprising that the most common (and favorite) topic of conversation among us is the same: "What are you listening to right now?" Stick a quarter in us, and, boy, wouldn't you know it, off we go, on and on about this new song we can't stop listening to, or this new album flipping our wig or an old favorite we rediscovered. So whether you're looking for recommendations, trying to get a feel for our individual sensibilities or are just curious, we've compiled a list of all the things we've been listening to this week. Keep reading to see which albums and songs were in heavy rotation, and then, of course, feel free to weigh in with your picks.

New ones from Frightened Rabbit, Mother Mother, Free Energy and Mixed Blood Majority have been getting a lot of play. Also got all nostalgic for mid-to-late-90s-midwest indie rock in anticipation of the Bob Mould show at The Bluebird on 4/21, so I've also been listening to the reissue of Nova Mob's "Last Days Of Pompeii", House of Large Sizes live record "Idiots Out Wandering Around" and Verbow's first record "Chronicles" quite a bit. Oh, and Bob's "Silver Age" is the next best thing to a new Sugar record IMHO.

New ones today by Besnard Lakes and Caveman (on my 2nd listen) and (still) the new Phosphorescent release - "Muchacho." New release by The Black Angels hasn't grabbed me yet.
